WJ are up for Site Safety Initiative, Best Use of Technology, Apprentice of the year and together with Costain Galliford Try JV also a finalist for Road Marking Project of the Year.
In addition, WJ is named within other finalist teams for the award categories of Team of the Year, Highways Maintenance Efficiency and included twice for Highways Partnership.
WJ Group a long-standing supporter of this prestigious event sponsor the Highways Partnership Award which reflects the vision, values and ethos of the UK’s leading specialist road marking business.
The Highways Awards are independently judged by an esteemed panel of representatives from every corner of the United Kingdom, including the Road Safety Foundation, Department for Infrastructure, Highways England, Transport Scotland, the Welsh Government and the Institute of Highway Engineers.
Jonathan Pearson, Head Judge and President of the IHE said, “This year has seen a record number of entries in the awards. Not only that, but it is another year of high-quality submissions. This is a testament to the hard work of these companies and organisations as well as the fact that the UK has some of the best highway engineers in the world. Judging these awards was a very difficult task but one that makes you proud to be part of this fantastic industry we have.”
This year’s event is to be hosted by Colin Murray a TV and radio presenter who has covered everything from sport to music to lifestyle in his varied career. He hosts Radio 5 live’s sports panel show Fighting Talk, marshalling the egos of the competing pundits, comedians and journalists, and is the anchor of Channel 5’s Football on 5 show. However, it’s expected that keeping more than 500 excited highway professionals in order may be his biggest challenge yet.
WJ are privileged to be involved in the awards, which raise awareness of the palpable endeavour, continuous investment and continual innovation across the industry. Having collected the Road Marking Project of the Year in 2018 the WJ team are eagerly looking forward to the 2019 event in October.
